2018 Chrysler Pacifica Review
As much as sport utility vehicles have taken over the roads in Somerset, New Bedford, and all across the country, there’s still room for the classic minivan as an ideal family vehicle. Since first being introduced several decades ago, minivans have consistently enhanced their comfort, storage, performance, and family friendly profile. They might not have the sportiness of a classic crossover, but there are few better options to do your daily routine, take the kids to after-school activities, or on family vacations. The new Chrysler Pacifica, a direct legacy of the original minivan, offers utilitarian design, curvaceous and sporty front end, luxury-appointed cabin, and superior functionality. Let’s check out a detailed 2018 Chrysler Pacifica review, its features and options, and learn what you can expect when you hop into the cabin to take a test drive.
2018 Chrysler Pacifica Specs
This year the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica hits showrooms with a few new changes and upgrades. The entry level trim is now the L-trim and adds a ton of outstanding features even at the base level. These include upgraded Uconnect® infotainment system with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ for improved music and information as well as full smartphone integration. Those looking to use the Pacifica as a family vehicle will be thrilled to know that additional safety features are also now standard across the board. These include Rear Parking Sensors, Blind Spot Monitoring, and more. At higher trim levels, features that were once strictly package deals can now be had as standalone options. These include a panoramic sunroof at the Touring L level, 20-speaker sound system at the Limited level, and if you choose the 8.4-inch touchscreen, HD Radio™. Finally, you can get 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and you can stream to the back-seat entertainment system from your Android phone.
The driving experience is outstanding among minivans. It has superior handling, powerful acceleration, and strong brakes. In fact, at only 7.7 seconds from 0 to 60 mph, it’s faster than most other minivans. The 9-speed automatic transmission offers great control, and the 3.6L V6 engine will put out 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. If you’re looking for safety, braking distance is essential, and the Pacifica can stop from 60 miles per hour in only 119 feet according to Edmunds, which is fast for a minivan. Finally, it features limited body roll, solid cornering, and great suspension that mitigates rough road with confidence. Inside, the cabin is luxuriously outfitted with firm seats, plenty of room for adults in the second row, and a nicely quiet experience with minimal road noise. The 3-zone climate control is standard at every level after the base, and it does a superior job of keeping everyone comfortable. With upscale materials and soft-touch surfaces, it’s the height of comfort, and for the driver, controls are convenient to reach and easy to use.
2018 Chrysler Pacifica Utility and Storage
Chrysler offers its special Stow-‘n-Go seating, which allows back row seats to quickly fold right into the floor, while making that under-floor storage available when the seats are up. With all seats folded, you’ll get 140 cubic feet of storage, which when combined with the versatility of the folding seats makes this a standout vehicle.
