It’s a 2.0L Turbo I-4 engine that can reach up to 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque All three options work with a versatile 9-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick. This lets you manually control your gear shifts without a clutch. With this level of power under the hood, your 2019 Jeep Cherokee is capable of towing large cargo like a trailer or a boat. It has a maximum towing capacity of 4,500 pounds.
Jeep Cherokee Off-Roading

There’s three available 4×4 systems, starting with the Jeep® Active Drive I. This features a rear axle disconnect that helps with efficiency by only engaging when necessary. The next choice is the Jeep® Active Drive II 4×4 System, which takes this a step further by adding both a low range and Neutral mode for extra traction. Each of these systems features the Jeep® Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System. Using a dial on your dashboard, you can adjust the drivetrain to your current driving conditions by switching between four modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, and Sand/Mud. The final system is the Jeep® Active Drive Lock 4×4 System. It adds Rock Mode to your Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System and features a mechanical rear axle lock. While these systems make the Jeep Cherokee fully capable of off-roading and getting you through slippery conditions, it’s the design that lets it get up and over obstacles. With an 8.7-inch ground clearance, its capable of attacking hills at a 29.9-degree approach angle. Plus, thanks to underbody sealing, it can easily drive through up to 19 inches of water.
