A tough and versatile pickup truck like that Ram 1500 is capable of getting any job done for you. It’s also as versatile on the construction site as it is when you’re loading up for your next big vacation.
So, what’s the latest version of this truck capable of? Stateline Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram put together this 2019 Ram 1500 review to show drivers in Somerset and New Bedford what the newest model can do for you.
2019 Ram 1500 Engines
There’s a lot of power inside the new Ram 1500. There’s three heavy duty engines that you can choose from to help it carry all your cargo.
The first option under the hood is a 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine with eTorque. This advanced design replaces an alternator with a 48-volt battery and features variable valve timing and two-step variable valve lift to maximize its power. Together they’re able to get up to 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque.
The second available engine is a larger 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine that gets up to 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.
The final engine is a combination of the previous two. It’s another 5.7L HEMI® V8 but it features eTorque. While it also produces 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, it’s able to get more out of that power and haul more weight.
Each of these powertrains works with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
2019 Ram 1500 Towing & Payload
The great thing about all that power under the hood is that it gives the 2019 Ram 1500 the ability to carry and tow a lot of weight.
It has a maximum towing capacity of up to 12,750 pounds. That gives you the freedom to tow everything from a couple bikes and ATVs to a full-size trailer or a boat.
You can feel secure no matter how much you’re carrying with trailer-tow mirrors and Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) with Trailer Detection looking out for you. There’s also Trailer Sway Damping to keep everything in line and stable during your drive.
The truck bed also let’s you carry a lot with a maximum payload capacity of up to 2,300 pounds.
The available Active-Level™ Four Corner Air Suspension helps with both your payload and lining up the ball and hitch while connecting your trailer. It activates when weight is added and keeps everything level.
2019 Ram 1500 Truck Bed
While the 2019 Ram 1500 has a truck bed that can carry a lot of weight, it’s also very versatile. There’s a maximum of 61.5 cubic feet of cargo room, plus lots of available features with the RamBox® Cargo Management System.
With this system and accessories, you can store more than meets the eye. There’s an available bed extender plus weatherproof lockable and drainable storage bins along the sides.
If you ever want to keep your cargo discreet instead, throw a soft roll-up Tonneau cover on the bed instead.
The Ram 1500 is about convenience too. There’s easy access to truck bed with a retractable Mopar® Bed Step. You can also load up at night with an in-bed lighting system. There’s also a 115-volt power outlet to help you power up any tools while you’re working.
