Drivers throughout Somerset and New Bedford can learn more about the differences between these pickup trucks with our Ram 1500 vs. Chevrolet Silverado 1500 comparison!
The Ram 1500 and Silverado both feature V6 engines in the base models, both of which are capable of light-duty towing and around-town driving. Both are standard with rear-wheel drive and offer four-wheel drive as an upgrade. Upgraded V8 engines are available for both, with the Ram offering a 395-horsepower 5.7L V8 engine and the Silverado offering a 5.3L V8 engine.
When it comes to towing capacity, however, the Ram 1500 clearly outperforms the Silverado. With a maximum towing capacity of 12,750 pounds when properly equipped, the Ram claims 250 pounds higher in towing capacity than the Silverado. The Ram also offers an optional Active-Level™ Four-Corner Air Suspension, reducing drag and increasing efficiency.
There’s no shortage of luxury and comfort in the Ram and Silverado. Regular four-door extended cab and four-door crew cab configurations are available for both trucks, providing exceptional rear-seat space and comfortable, supportive seats. The Ram boasts a bit more luxury with better interior materials and high-end upgrades, however.
Storage is better in the Ram as well, with innovative options like the RamBox® Cargo Management System. This system is everything you could ever need, built right into the side rails of your truck—plenty of space for all your tools, complete with lights for those nighttime jobs as well as handy tie-downs to secure your important items. Unfortunately, the Silverado can’t offer anything to live up to this class-exclusive system found in the Ram.
The Ram and Silverado are well equipped at every trim level, especially when you consider the long list of features included standard. A USB port, rear-view camera, and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration are shared between them. Only the Ram offers plenty of upgraded features and a 12-inch touchscreen option, however, which isn’t available for any other vehicle.
Both trucks come with a range of standard safety equipment and offer plenty of advanced safety features for enhanced protection. Technology like Lane Keep Assist and Blind Spot Monitors help you with visibility and awareness of the area around your vehicle to limit the potential of a crash.
