Used Jeep Wrangler vs Used FJ Cruiser

Used 2019 Jeep Wrangler near Somerset

A used SUV like the Jeep Wrangler or Toyota FJ Cruiser offers drivers in Somerset, New Bedford, and Fall River a terrific opportunity to drive a vehicle that’s both versatile and more affordable. So, which one is right for you?

Stateline Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram wants to help you decide with this used Jeep Wrangler vs. used FJ Cruiser comparison.

Used Jeep Wrangler vs Used FJ Cruiser Power

Used 2019 Jeep Wrangler near SomersetInside a used Jeep Wrangler, you’ll find a 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) to power this iconic SUV. This powertrain is capable of producing up to 285 horsepower.

To manage this power, you’ll have a choice between 5-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual transmission. The automatic transmission features an AutoStick function that lets you change gears like a manual but without a clutch.

A used Toyota FJ Cruiser also features VVT under the hood and a choice between a 5-speed automatic transmission and a 6-speed manual. However, it doesn’t offer anything like AutoStick and it’s not as powerful. It runs on a bulky 4.0L V6 powertrain that can only get up to 260 horsepower.

Used Jeep Wrangler vs Used FJ Cruiser Capability

If you’re looking to go off-roading, both a used Jeep Wrangler and Toyota FJ Cruiser are great options. Each one has a versatile drivetrain with 4-wheel drive and a durable suspension.

While both models have an electronic-locking rear differential to provide you with stability, the Wrangler takes all four wheels into account with an electronic-locking front differential as well.

It’s also equipped with a Sway Bar Disconnect System that you can quickly engage at low speeds by just pressing a button. The Toyota FJ Cruiser doesn’t offer a Sway Bar Disconnect and can’t give you as much stability on uneven ground.

A used Wrangler can also give you more confidence to get through obstacles in your path. It has a 10.1-inch ground clearance and can use its underbody sealing to drive through up to 30 inches of water.

The Toyota FJ Cruiser also sits high but isn’t able to take you through ditches and streams as easily. It has a 9.6-inch ground clearance and can only manage to ford its way through 27.6 inches of water.

Used Jeep Wrangler vs Used FJ Cruiser Design

Interior of used 2019 Jeep WranglerFrom its very first model to the Jeeps right off the assembly line today, the Wrangler’s design is timeless. It’s also become famous for the many ways it can be customized.

First, you’ll have a choice between a 2-door or 4-door model. After that every angle of your cabin can be adjusted. Both bodies can be fitted with removable full-framed doors, a fold-down windshield, and either a Sunrider® soft top, premium Sunrider® soft top, or a Freedom Top® hard top.

A used Toyota FJ Cruiser doesn’t have the same bold, unmistakable look as a used Wrangler. It also doesn’t offer the same chance to get creative and personalize your SUV. It has a standard hard top and its doors aren’t designed to be easily removed and reattached.
