How Much Can the Ram 1500 Tow?

With several powerful engines to choose from, the Ram 1500 has some incredible towing capacities that vary by engine and are based on the truck being properly equipped.
The Ram 1500 has a maximum available towing capacity of 12,750 pounds with the 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine with eTorque Mild Hybrid Technology. However, the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine isn't far behind. This EcoDiesel engine has 480 lb-ft of torque that helps it tow up to 12,560 pounds.
The 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine is also available without eTorque, and it's still strong enough to tow up to 11,610 pounds. Even the standard 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine can tow up to 7,730 pounds. If you're less concerned with towing power and simply want some extra emphasis behind each press of the gas pedal, there's even a 6.2L Supercharged HEMI® V8 engine that offers a remarkable 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.
So, whether you're looking to tow jet skis, a camper, or a sailboat-or simply add more impact to your everyday rides-the Ram 1500 can do it.
Added Ram 1500 Performance
The towing strength and engine power of the Ram 1500 isn't all this stunning pickup has to offer. For instance, the Ram 1500 features a high-strength steel frame, which certainly lends a hand with its towing capabilities but also allows for a payload capacity of up to 2,300 pounds. That's more than enough to store even your heaviest items in the truck bed and cargo space.
Despite its incredibly large frame, the Ram 1500 is as agile and precise in its handling as a pickup of its size can be. Much of that is thanks to the 8-speed automatic transmission that comes standard on the Ram 1500. With it, you'll have no problem staying in control of all that engine strength.
Additional features such as the active air dam, air suspension system, and aerodynamic exterior build all contribute to a much more intelligent ride behind the wheel of the Ram 1500.
Packed With Towing Tech

To help make the most of your trailering capabilities on and off the road, the Ram 1500 also comes with all kinds of trailering technology.
The available Trailer Reverse Steering Control system will make it easy to maneuver your trailer, even in Reverse! This system will control your truck's steering when you direct the trailer with the included Trailer Steering knob in the center stack.
Power-Fold Tow Mirrors are available with the 360° Surround View Camera to give you a complete view of your truck's surroundings. From changing lanes and parking to hitching your trailer, these extra views will make everything a breeze.
Plus, there's even available Trailer Camera Wiring that can allow for two auxiliary cameras positioned around your trailer with a direct feed to your center Uconnect® touchscreen.
On top of all that, there's plenty of additional tech laced throughout the Ram 1500 that will help not just in your towing expeditions but also in helping keep you and your passengers safe. Some of it includes:
- Blind Spot Monitoring System with Rear Cross Path Detection
- Driver Information Digital Cluster Â
- Electronic Stability Control
- Trailer Sway Control
- Hill Start Assist
- Trailer Hitch Light
Whether you're in need of some assistance while you tow along your trailer or boat or simply want some peace of the mind behind the wheel, the Ram 1500 has you covered.
The Cool & Capable Ram 1500
So, what other capabilities does the Ram 1500 have? Well, let's start by breaking down some of those that we've mentioned above.
The standard Electronic Stability Control will help keep your truck steady on the road, while the available Trailer Sway Control keeps your trailer steady too.  And with the available Electronic Roll Mitigation system, you'll feel confident even when taking sharp turns.
Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path and Trailer Detection is available to keep an extra eye on your blind spot when you can't. It can even sense and account for the length of your trailer.
Like the Blind Spot Monitoring system, the Ram 1500 is also loaded with plenty of other features and tech that provide an all-around safer ride. The Driver Information Digital Cluster creates much easier, more visible access to your dashboard warning signs. Whether that's an alert to apply the brakes or the Tire Pressure Monitoring System indicates low pressure in one or more tires, you'll notice it immediately.
There's even Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist offered with the Ram 1500. So, once you've unhooked your trailer and need to park your truck for the night, you can do so with ease. Â
The Ram 1500 is also available with the unique multifunction tailgate. With its 60/40 split swing-away doors, you can easily access the truck bed even while trailering. Plus, the door is still strong enough to support up to 2,000 pounds of weight when used as a traditional tailgate.
